~ NCA Directors

For those new to NCA and club basketball:

Travel team background: The objective of the NCA Travel program is to put together a competitive team at different grade levels from 3rd grade to High School and compete at weekend tournaments held throughout northern California. Tournament games are typically played on Saturday and Sunday and each team would generally play 3 games per tournament. There will also be practices twice a week, location and times are to be determined. There is a travel team fee to cover tournament costs, gym costs for practices and coach stipends. This cost will be based on how many tournaments we decide to offer and how many players will be on a team. This year, the NCA directors are putting together a plan for the number of tournaments that will be offered and the associated cost. We will share those details with everyone as soon as they are finalized.

Travel to the tournament locations will be the responsibility of the parents. We highly encourage carpooling with other parents on your child's team. Some tournaments might be a little further away where overnight lodging is recommended. Lodging, meals and other personal expenses are also the responsibility of the parents. We will provide details and lodging recommendations once we have finalized the tournament schedules.

NCA Academy background: The NCA academy is designed for players who are new to basketball or for those who need skill work and are not quite ready for the high level competition associated with travel teams. The emphasis of the Academy is to develop fundamental basketball skills with dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, defense principles  around man-to-man defense vs. zone defense and running a basic offense. The NCA academy spring season will consist of a total of 20 sessions (twice a week for 2 hours each). Scrimmages will also be incorporated to give the players an opportunity to use their skills in a game situation. There is an Academy fee to cover the gym costs and coach stipend. More details will be provided soon. Travel to the practice site will be the responsibility of the parents. We highly encourage carpooling with other parents whose kids are participating .

Please reach out to us if there are any questions.

We are looking forward to the upcoming 2024 Spring NCA Spring Season.
